Again we were blessed with good weather in early September for our 43rd Annual Show held in the Evergreen Hall, Allestree. The very essence of a traditional village show brought out 34 exhibitors staging 298 entries. They started to arrive and 9.00 a.m. and gradually the tables were filled until time was called at 11.00 a.m. to allow the judges to do ‘their thing’. Once judging was complete and all the prize cards displayed against the winning entries then the doors were thrown open to the public. A good number of members and the general public attended, ca. 120, and the numbers were bolstered by Allestree holding a Village Scarecrow competition that day so there were plenty of people walking though the village. Everybody agreed that it was again a good colourful show with some excellent high quality exhibits. Once the prize giving was over, the show was rounded off by a lively auction of produce left by the exhibitors and finally the raffle.
Scroll the photographs above to the left and see the show develop from an almost empty hall to see some of the wonderful exhibits displayed that day.
The hall was soon cleared so that by 5.30 p.m. it looked as though nothing had taken place that day. A credit to those who stayed behind to clear up.
Thanks to all the exhibitors and everybody who helped to stage the show and especially those who came to support us in the afternoon.
